TEDTALK REFLECTIONS
TED Talk Journal Reflections (Due: Weekly Submissions)
250 Points Total (25 Points Each)
The purpose of this assignment is for the student to demonstrate critical thinking about an issue, an idea, or a problem (In reference to General Education Outcome 2). TED is a nonprofit organization that focuses on sharing ideas with the global community. These topics range from technology to artwork, advice on public speaking and more. I hope that you find inspiration from many of these presentations and that you find value in the information for your future careers, education, and daily lives.
5 Minute Journal Reflections
Each module will include a recommended TED Talk video. For full points, you will be expected to watch the recommended video and include a 5 Minute Journal Reflection for each one. Note: For modules that include more than one TED Talk video, you only need to pick one of the videos to write your 5 Minute Journal Reflection on.
The Journal can be found in the Canvas CampusPack Tools in the left-side toolbar.
Rules for the 5 Minute Journal Reflections:
-
While watching the video, take a few notes about key points that the presenter addresses or quotes that you found inspiring.
-
After watching the video, write a brief outline that highlights three different ideas that you found from the video. This could be something you learned, something that you are interested in researching further, something you still don’t understand, etc.
-
Set a timer on your phone for 5 minutes and begin writing in your journal including reflections from you notes and outline. If you stop writing for 10-15 seconds, stop your timer, take a moment to gather your thoughts until you can start writing consistently again.
While spelling and grammar are extremely important, it will not be factored into the grading of this assignment. The purpose of this assignment is to get you thinking about a topic and forming your thoughts into words on paper.
Submitting Assignment:
Write your reflections in the Canvas Journal. The instructor will review your journal entry each week and will keep track of your points, updating the grade book regularly. You do not have to submit anything to the assignment page in Canvas.
